Orta Doğu ve Kafkaslar'a özgü, Türkiye'de özellikle Van Gölü havzasında çok yaygın olarak bulunan Van Gölü martısıdır (Larus armenicus). Ermeni martısı veya Doğu martısı olarak da adlandırılan bu tür, fenotipik olarak gümüş martıya (Larus michahellis) çok benzese de kendine has belirgin ayırt edici özelliklere sahiptir.
